The glory that is the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon.
To put my hands, feet, lo my whole body into this river is to fill my heart with song.
I can imagine this river water, the rock surrounding it, and the billions of years it took to get to this point as the essence of what life is.
It blesses anyone who visits. It deepens an understanding of what time truly is. We humans are but a blip in time. While the majesty of the Grand Canyon shows us what years of change can bring.
I spent 6 days on the river in an oar boat, and hiked all over the place every one of those days with the love of my life, Greg. And 20 people who were strangers at first, but who became meaningful friends.
The last day was bittersweet. And the hike out was grueling, amazing, challenging, and to be honest the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life of 79 years and 7 moths.

Like the map says, 8 miles, 4,400 ft. elevation change.
The Bright Angel Trail took me to my knees, but I got up and hiked even when I thought all my strength was gone. I got up. I kept going. Greg was my support, my cheerleader. As always.
I am filled with humility. And the memories of a lifetime.
In the days that follow I will be going through my photos and share them. Promise!

Greg and Susie who were changed by the rock and river and sky.
